Investors
AgOpen Technologies is a development-stage agricultural technology company raising capital to build per-animal verification for cattle credit and insurance.
Making cattle verifiable collateral
Banks and insurers often can’t prove that a specific animal is the one they lent against or insured. These are the “ghost” or “phantom” cows of ag lending, and they are why lenders ask producers for real estate as collateral.
AgOpen is developing per-animal electronic ID (an AgOpen ID Tag plus a rumen bolus), cryptographically signed records of identity, headcount, location and liveness, drone-based data with a computer-vision model for cattle weight estimation, and a verification ledger of USDA-verified, U.S.-born-and-raised cattle records. The goal is to let a UCC-1 attach to a verified animal.
The company is pre-revenue. No hardware has shipped yet.

The pieces are ready to come together
Collateral friction
Lenders still lean on real estate because livestock can’t be verified. A verified animal could change that conversation.
Maturing technology
Long-range electronic ID, drones and computer vision are now practical tools for working cattle operations.
A clear standard for origin
USDA-verified, U.S.-born-and-raised records give lenders and investors a defined standard for the records AgOpen is building.
Where AgOpen fits
The U.S. cattle industry depends on credit and insurance at every stage, from cow-calf to stocker to feedyard. Ag lenders, community banks and livestock insurers serve these operations, and nearly all of them face the same problem verifying livestock collateral.
AgOpen’s potential customers are producers who want their herd to support their credit, and the financial institutions that lend to and insure them.
